Why Surrogacy?
It is estimated that 10%-15% of couples in the United States experience infertility. This means that 1 in every 8 couples will experience some sort of infertility in their lifetime. As many know, there are a wide variety of fertility methods to combat this ever rising infertility problem and since the 1990’s surrogacy has slowly been on the rise in helping couples who struggle with infertility become parents. We at Healing Hearts Surrogacy understand that each person’s dream to grow a family is deeply personal and in depth and that surrogacy is often times not the first choice when making this life changing decision. However, we know from experience how incredible and successful the surrogacy process is for future parents who choose this route when growing their family.
Many people will question, “Why surrogacy? Why not adoption?” Through the years the number of newborns available for adoption has been on a constant decrease, while demands for such services have only increased. A birth mother in the adoption process has the right to “change her mind” at delivery, and often times couples will spend major money, time, and emotions looking forward to the arrival of their adopted child only to have the birth mother “change her mind” last minute. Healing Hearts Surrogacy takes that heart breaking scenario out of the equation by using “gestational surrogates” which means the surrogate has absolutely no genetic link to the baby she is carrying. Because of this, the child is genetic property of the intended parents making the “surrogacy gone wrong” scenario’s a thing of the past.
Surrogacy gives intended parents the ability to be an integral part of the decision making process from before conception clear through until delivery. As long as a healthy pregnancy is maintained via the surrogate, intended parents are guaranteed a child at delivery, with the surrogate not having the option, nor wanting too “change her mind”. On top of all this goodness, intended parents have the ability through surrogacy to have a child genetically related to one or both of the intended parents. With more than 750 babies born via surrogacy every year, surrogacy is now known as a viable and reliable option for growing families.
